Grammer rules out 'Frasier' movie

3 October 2008 10:35 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Kelsey Grammer has ruled out the possibility of a Frasier movie. The actor, whose new sitcom Back To You was cancelled earlier this year, says he does not want the show to follow in the footsteps of The X Files and Sex And The City. "I hope not - it's just bound to be a failure," he said. "I like them on television. I even like Sex And The City on television. I know it had great success. "But stylistically, the way it's shot, you could kind of buy that it could be a film. It wasn't such (more)

Mitch Pileggi: I'm Not X-Files' Walter Skinner

1 October 2008 2:14 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

Yes, "The X-FIles" was a great series, with great stories, great actors, and even greater characters. But "The X-Files" ended six years ago, and there's far more to Mitch Pileggi than Assistant Director Walter Skinner. "It can be a bit of an irritation sometimes," Pileggi recently told SyFy Portal's Michael Hinman. "For example, I did an arc on 'Brothers & Sisters' that aired [Sunday night], and I saw some of the reviews of it, and there was one that the whole time they were referring to my character as, 'Skinner does this,' or 'Skinner does that.' "That's a long time ago. I'm an actor who has played many characters other than Skinner." One of those characters makes his debut Thursday night on The CW's "Supernatural." He plays Samuel Campbell, the maternal grandfather ...

Pegg Shows Musical Talent

28 September 2008 11:58 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Funnyman Simon Pegg wants to swap acting for music after he played the drums at a party for the premiere of his new film.

Pegg stars in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, based on the best-selling book of the same name by British journalist Toby Young, alongside The X Files actress Gillian Anderson.

Following the star-studded London premiere of the film on Wednesday, British band Guillemots performed at the afterparty held at Shoreditch House.

Pegg grabbed the drumsticks and thrashed out some songs with the Get Over It hitmakers - and fell in love with the instrument.

He says, "I think I might kill the drummer and take his job full-time."

Pregnant Gillian Anderson Takes Tumble at Premiere

25 September 2008 5:35 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

Pregnant Gillian Anderson gave the audience quite a scare Wednesday night, when she lost her balance and fell to the floor at the London premiere of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. As director Robert Weide introduced the movie – which also stars Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox – he joked that Anderson going into labor that night would be great publicity. Anderson, 40, then went on stage, in a floor-grazing Alice Temperley dress, and threw a fake punch at Weide. But she lost her balance and ended up falling to the ground, drawing gasps from the crowd at the Empire Leicester Square.

David Duchovny, Demi Moore join ‘The Joneses’

20 September 2008 7:56 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Amber Heard will team up to star in Derrick Borte’s directorial debut “The Joneses,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film focuses on a seemingly perfect family that moves into a suburban community and leaves an excellent first impression with the neighbors. Truth is however that they are a fake family sent to live among consumers in order to promote new luxury products.

Duchovny is set to play the dad, who’s battling a personal crisis because he finds it hard to live a lie. Moore plays the wife, who slowly develops real feelings for her fake husband. Heard is the daughter who’s on the lookout for a rich guy.

Sounds awesome to me at this stage. Duchovny has the perfect face to play this kind of guy, and I remember he and Gillian Anderson once did a totally convincing job playing a

Can Superheroes Save 20th Century Fox From Itself?

Fox has not had a good year -- and as with most drama-filled issues, they really have only themselves to blame. Variety points out that they were the only studio this summer that didn't have a $100 million domestic earner. What they did have was a lot of widely-derided flops like The Happening, Space Chimps, and Meet Dave. They also had films that might have done well, had they chosen to actually sell them, like The X-Files: I Want to Believe. They were also dealt a bit of bad luck when it came to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was supposed to come out this summer, making it the greatest superhero year ever, but was delayed due to Hugh Jackman's commitment to Australia. According to Coming Soon, the 20th Century Fox will be introducing the first trailer of the live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama's famous Japanese manga when their video game adaptation "Max Payne" debuts in theaters.

By that, it means that fans have to wait until October 17 to get the first look into "Dragonball". In addition, though the trailer is aimed to be released along side the Mark Wahlberg-action movie, IGN has hinted that the schedule is not 100% fixed since it has to wait for the movie to get its special effects and requisite approvals.

X-Files 3 Straight To DVD? [Updated]

18 August 2008 2:41 PM, PDT | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

[Update: This rumor has been debunked]

I think that it is pretty safe to say that The X-Files: I Want To Believe was a bit of a disappointment, both commercially and critically. And to make matters worse, it also let down a lot of fans.

X-Files fans are a dedicated bunch who helped the show become a phenomenon and to disappoint them is a pretty big deal. As Screen Rant’s resident X-File fan even I was a bit let down by the film.

Before the release of the second feature there was a lot of talk of the franchise continuing in a series of films, but due to the poor box office ($20 million domestic) it looked like The X-Files had come to its natural conclusion.

But has it?

Dread Central got a scoop that states a third film in the series is a go - but it will be heading straight to DVD.

Is this

Anderson Goes Underground

11 August 2008 12:24 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

The X-Files star Gillian Anderson prefers to commute on London's Underground - because she never gets noticed.

The actress - who resides in the British capital - snubs chauffeur driven cars and opts instead for public transport as she rarely attracts any unwanted attention.

She says, "To be honest it was when I was afraid that people would recognise me that I was recognised much more. When I first arrived in London I was much more afraid of that, so I stayed in.

"But after a while I began to feel claustrophobic and thought, 'We have to get out'. So I went out very confidently, wore a hat, sat with my back to people, and the funny thing is that people would look at me and think 'Is that...? Impossible. She wouldn't ride the Tube.'"

The X-Files star Gillian Anderson will consider moving back to America from her adopted hometown of London if Barack Obama becomes the next

U.S. President.

And now she's expecting British businessman Mark Griffiths' child - her third - she insists there's only one thing that would make her consider a move back to the U.S.

She explains, "What might bring me back is if Obama becomes President. That potentially could be so uplifting and something I'd want to be a part of."

The lives of the Walker clan will soon get even more complicated with the arrival of several new faces on Season 3.

Sonja Sohn (The Wire's Det. Kima Greggs) appears in the 7th episode as Tricia Evans - a pregnant woman who selects Kitty and Robert to be her child's adoptive parents.

Nigel Havers, a familair face on British TV, joins the series as Roger, an architect who helps Nora build a center for families coping with childhood cancer. "He's an incredibly engaging and funny actor who can work comically with Sally," who hints that romance may blossom as the season unfolds.
