During the "Dance Magic Dance" number, goblins are seen drinking an unknown substance, with one goblin beneath the tap of a barrel not unlike an alcoholic.

There are several scenes which could be considered scary to a child below the age of ten, but it largely depends on the maturity of the child. In one scene, the girl falls into a hole, and dozens of hands make faces and talk to her as well as catch and drop her variously. In another scene, there are hairless rodent-like creatures attached to sticks and they seem to bite viciously. The first scene in the bedroom is dark and shows goblins popping out of various places, laughing, and then disappearing before she can see them. Bowie's character comes in through the window, accompanied by thunder and lightning. He produces a snake out of a crystal, and throws it at Sarah. Another scene shows a machine with blades and spikes on it wheeling its way towards the main girl and a companion. Most of the scenes are light and playful, and to a child of today, the effects shouldn't be too believable.
